Thermal camera to detect swine flu

With cases of swine flu increasingly on the rise, MIAL has taken proactive steps in making all the requisite preparations to counter the spread of the flu. For this reason, MIAL has procured a thermal camera for screening of arriving passengers at the international terminal at CSIA. The camera was handed over to the government doctors who are in charge of conducting the screening process. On detecting a person with a body temperature above normal (above 98.6 degree Fahrenheit) the camera gives a beeping alarm and also captures the image. Another camera is in the process of being procured and will be deployed soon. Additionally, two air-cleansing machines have been set-up, which purify the Arrivals area at regular intervals. MIAL has also distributed masks to people working at the domestic and international terminals. CSIA is the first airport in India to have a thermal camera for screening of swine flu. This is a precautionary measure adopted by MIAL, to guard its employees and passengers against this dreaded virus.
